my journey
Look for what you notice but no one else sees. ~Rick Rubin
I’m Thomas Mayer, a music producer and audio engineer who found his voice in Vienna’s vibrant music scene.
I grew up in a small village, far from the pulse of the music world. My only connection to popular music was the radio and the TV.
Even as a kid, I knew I wanted to express myself creatively. Nothing lit up my eyes more than watching musicians play on stage. During my teenage years, I went through a dark chapter — and music became my beacon of hope.
That’s when I realized I had to become a music producer.
Right after finishing school, I moved to Vienna to immerse myself in its young and colorful music culture.

background
Graduating high school was my last stop in Lower Austria. After that, I moved to Vienna and completed a degree in Audio Engineering at SAE. That’s where I discovered my passion for working in the studio.
To pursue my dream of becoming a music producer, I took the leap into self-employment. With the help of a startup grant and many professional workshops, I started building my skills and network.
My practical experience includes mixing live performances, working on projects with artists, and leading a five-piece band.
Playing instruments gives me an enormous amount of energy. It’s how I truly express myself. I’ve been playing piano since I was eight. In my teenage years, picked up the guitar during and recently started learning bass.
Being a lifelong fan of TV shows and fascinated by advertising. I quickly realized I wanted my music to be heard on screen — whether on television or streaming platforms. That path naturally led me to sync.
future
I have big ambitions for the future. My goal is to develop a vibrant, high-quality, and diverse catalog of music that reflects my artistic identity. I’m committed to continuously growing as a producer. My musical journey will surely lead me to explore new textures. I will delve into experimental sound design. I will incorporate all the catchy elements a song can offer.
Building strong, long-term relationships with business partners is just as important to me. I want to be part of projects that we can all be genuinely proud of. Work that stands out not only for its quality but also for its emotional impact and authenticity.
I’m excited about what lies ahead and confident that, with passion and persistence, the right opportunities will come. I can’t wait to see how far this journey takes me.
my home-studio: The Heart of my Sound
Over the years, I slowly built my home studio.
I started with a basic audio interface and a cheap microphone, recording wherever I could find space.
I put every bit of savings into improving my setup, piece by piece.
It wasn’t about gear – it was about creating a space where I could feel comfortable, focus, and fully dive into sound.
Today, it’s where I feel most at home, and where every idea starts to take shape.
Here are a few pictures of my setup:
